Sevier County wedding made possible by Dolly Parton’s parents’ former home

SEVIER CO., Tenn. (WVLT) – Hayley Mathis and Landon Parker met about a year and a half ago in Bell Buckle, Tennessee through their parents. When planning their wedding, the two wanted a wedding in Sevier County in the mountains and planned to do so.

When the wildfires started just weeks before the couple’s big day, it left them with major questions as the very area where they planned to get married was affected by the blaze.

“We didn’t know where we were going to get him,” Mathis said.

They thought about having a wedding at their cabin in Gatlinburg or trying to find another option. That’s when a friend sent a message to Mathis that changed everything.

The former home of Dolly Parton’s parents has been made available to displaced bride and groom affected by the wildfires. After a quick phone call, Mathis realized she had a wedding venue after all.

“You’ll never guess where we can celebrate our wedding,” Mathis said excitedly to her fiancé.

The iconic red roof and country setting was a perfect alternative for a couple wanting a simplistic style wedding.

“Making our special day even more special. We are just beyond that,” Mathis said.
