Heathens crowned undefeated Rugby Premier League champion |

On Saturday May 7, Heathens RFC were crowned Nile Special Rugby Premier League champions 2021/22 after their final match of the season against Kobs at the Legends Grounds in Kampala.

The Heathens beat Kobs 10-22 in their own crowded backyard to finish the season unbeaten in the two-round campaign, dooming the other nine teams to the role of bridesmaid, home and away .

Heathens finished the season with 86 points, 10 ahead of Pirates and Kobs who finished second and third respectively.

The Kobs who won the previous edition, also undefeated, gave the Heathens a guard of honor before kick-off before they (the Heathens) hoisted the winners’ trophy to the delight of their fans who then returned to their home ground, Kyadondo Rugby Club for further celebrations.

In the crowded season finale, Heathens who were confirmed champions the weekend before the final ran in five tries, two tries and a penalty

The pagan trials were performed by; Joseph Oyet, Innocent Gwokto, Scout Olouch, Reynold Kato and UCU Romano. Chris Lubanga was good with kicks.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are relegated from the top division after nearly a decade in the premiership. A new team will be promoted via playoffs where top regional teams will compete in respective engagements.
