A glamorous ballroom at Ben’s wedding has to be seen to be believed

Every couple has their own personal style for their big day, and whether it’s a simple, clean party or a party between big and tall, we’ve got you covered. This glamorous ballroom at Ben’s wedding has plenty of inspiration for him – thanks to its lush florals, gold decor and sophisticated outfit. Tyler Boye Photography and Harnessed productions photographed all the gorgeous details below.

JAzmine Reeves and Tyshawn Bell met while attending middle school in Camden, Delaware, but he didn’t ask her out until high school — via text. “I still don’t know where he got my number,” says Jazmine, Amazon’s hiring manager. When Tyshawn, a year before Jazmine, graduated, their relationship became long distance. But both knew they were meant to be.

Eight years passed as they cultivated their love from afar: they attended college and started their careers in different states. Tyshawn even spent a year playing professional basketball overseas. (He now works with high-risk children.) Finally, in 2016, the couple settled down — together — in Jessup, Maryland. The following years were filled with joy: they welcomed baby girl Kaia in 2017, got engaged in 2018 and had their second daughter, Oaklynn, in 2019.

They expected to continue the celebration by getting married in May 2020 at the Ben’s Ballroom, a renovated turn-of-the-century venue, but the pandemic forced them to postpone to the following year.

In the end, Jazmine and Tyshawn were thrilled with the outcome. The decor was pure glamour: an opulent ballroom; a white, ivory and gold color scheme; and dramatic floral installations.

A rope-like installation – repurposed from the ceremony – draped over the darling table, which was covered in a sea of white, “quicksand” roses and white hydrangeas. Guests removed plexiglass cloches from a custom seating plan instead of traditional place cards.

Even the reduced guest list (90 instead of 209) had a positive side: it allowed the couple to spend more one-on-one time with family and friends.

Rather than doing some of the more traditional activities (like tossing a bouquet or a garter), the couple and their wedding party took the time to snap photos of themselves popping champagne. “We love how this really captured how much fun we had,” the bride said.

A particularly special guest of honour? Jazmine’s formerly incarcerated brother, who surprised her as the couple took portraits.

As for this ceremony, it was unforgettable. Says Jazmine: “After so many years together, our commitment to each other at this time was overwhelming.”
