19 beautiful black and white wedding invitations
A black and white color scheme is not a new concept when it comes to weddings. Classic and traditional, a black and white wedding invitation can play both sides of the fence: cool and modern on one, elegant and luxurious on the other. âThe invitation really helps set the tone for what’s to come, so it’s just right that it reflects the type of wedding that’s coming up,â says stationery designer Oluwa Dami.

By Dami Studios is a Harlem-based stationery design studio owned and operated by Oluwa Dami, who in 2011 founded the company to create personalized stationery and invitations for clients around the world.
Dami finds black and white can be a sophisticated opening line (your wedding invitation, after all) regardless of your wedding style. âI don’t think there is a more appropriate style for black and white paper,â Dami says. âMost of the suites we’ve created in black and white are either super modern and chic – think Kate Spade, stripes and polka dots – or super traditional and stylish.â
Whether you go for formal invitations with heavy card stock and a custom monogram or a more casual design, elegance can be found in either case. âTraditional wedding invitations tend to have all the bells and whistles, but in a balanced fashion, rather than on top,â Dami says. âThe color choices usually don’t make a difference in the cost of the invitations. The materials used, the printing method and the quantity usually determine the cost. For a wedding of 150 people, you would need around 80 to 90 people. invitations in total. ”
